RAIN or Shine import Wayne Chism can’t help but be reminded of Golden State’s Stephen Curry after the Elasto Painters survived Jayson Castro’s remarkable three-point shooting in Game Two of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Castro, the leading contender for the Best Player of the Conference award, torched the opposition with a league career-high 44 points on a sizzling 9-of-14 shooting from beyond the three-point arc.

The nine three-pointers were a PBA Finals record for a local and the fourth all-time most three-point shots made by a local in a game, according to league head statistician Fidel Mangonon III.

The hot-shooting by the Talk ‘N Text gunner, however, went for naught as a resolute defense and strong second half fightback turned the tide for the Elasto Painters, who pulled off a 116-108 win to tie the best-of-seven series at 1-1.

“They (Tropang Texters) run a lot of confidence, especially off Jayson,” said the 27-year-old former Tennessee standout. “He’s shooting the lights out right now. You can call him Curry right now. He’s playing like Steph right now, so we just have to contain him and weather the storm because he played his tail off tonight.”
