Is it true that Marc Pingris is done for the ongoing Commissioners Cup? Due to the hip injury, Pingris will have to continue to ride the bench, and may only return to action in the Governors Cup.

If this is true, then this will greatly affect the campaign of the Star Hotshots in the ongoing Commissioners Cup.

Sayang... He will really be a great help... Siguro management decided to shut him down ngayon Comms Cup kase maganda naman ang record ng team...

Haven't read any news neither but i also wouldn't be surprised if that is accurate. Recovery period for hip injury is quite long, based at least from what happened with Denver's Wilson Chandler. Though Chandler's case required surgery. But prior to surgery, Chandler did miss significant amount of games coz the pain was bothersome and recurring. Let's all hope Ping's injury doesn't require him to go under the knife. We need him against the top dogs come playoffs.

Bad news for Star as injured Pingris says he’s done for the Comm’s Cup

Missing in action since the beginning of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Star veteran forward Marc Pingris admitted he’s been ruled out for the rest of the conference due to his injured hip, which he sustained in the Philippine Cup semifinal series against Ginebra.[IMG]

His worst fear may have come true but Pingris hopes his continued absence won’t affect the Hotshots in the long run as the tournament reaches the final days of the elimination round.

So far, the Hotshots are holding up well without their veteran leader. In fact, Star is on the verge of nabbing one of the two twice-to-beat bonuses heading to the quarterfinals with their 7-2 record to tie Meralco at the top of the standings.

“Kaya naman nila yan (sa playoffs). Napatunayan na naman nila eh, basta wala lang magbabago,” added the pride of Pozzurubio, Pangasinan, who is scheduled to return in the season-ending Governors’ Cup. “Yung mind na lang labanan diyan.”

Nicknamed “Pinoy Sakuragi”, the energetic Star forward hopes Gilas gunner Allein Maliksi could bring an added veteran presence for Star heading to the playoffs following a fruitful stint with the national team, which is just a few days remove from a successful title-retention of the SEABA men’s championships in Manila.

“May natutunan at nakuha siya doon (at Gilas). Madali lang din yun kasi kung ano yung mapakinggan mo sa beterano, pwedeng i-apply niya yun,” he said.

Victolero though refused to close the door on a Pingris return this conference, saying they intend to send the many-time PBA All-Defensive team member to the US to get further medical attention.

“Mmalabo siya for the last 2 games (of Star in the elims), but sa playoffs, di pa sinasara. W’ere still hoping he can play,” shared Victolero. “Dire-diretso naman yung kanyang rehab. Ayaw lang namin lumala pa injury niya so we’re hoping makatulong at mabilis paggaling niya.”

“The next few days pupunta siya US to evaluate yung injury, at if okay, he’ll be back in time for the playoffs.”

Star is set to collide with the fellow leader Bolts for the solo spot on Wednesday’s main billing at the Smart Araneta Coliseum at 7:00 pm.

^This is it! Now its confirmed. No more Pingris this conference. Maybe this is also the reason why they hired Ratliffe. Lol!

That sucks. Can't blame Ping though, di na rin siya bata so yung recuperation di na rin ganun kabilis. Hopefully di kailangan ng surgery otherwise he's done for the season.

Kailangan natin ngayon ng miracle of biblical proportions, and that is for Sangalang to step up. I'd be cheering for you buddy. Haha

Serviceable big pa rin yun at his age and palaban.

Marc Pingris set to leave for US to seek treatment for hip injury

MARC Pingris' return to the Star Hotshots lineup may take longer than expected.

The veteran forward is scheduled to go to the US to seek treatment for his recurring hip injury, putting in doubt a comeback in the ongoing PBA Commissioner's Cup.

Pingris said he's just waiting for his papers to be processed before departing for Los Angeles, where he'll stay for at least a month.

"Medyo hindi nawawala kasi yung pain," said Pingris after the team's 108-90 rout of Meralco in the PBA Commissioner's Cup Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

But surgery is definitely out of the question.

"Gumiginhawa naman siya ng kaunti ngayon. Nag-i-improve naman kahit paano," said Pingris.

Yup hoarding is the operative word. Add to the list si YDO and David Semerad. Untouchable among their backups is probably Espinas. AVO is a project so he ain't going anywhere. And among the 3 left, si JR Reyes yung tingin kong fit satin.
